Writing has been a part of my life since I was a teenager. I began writing inspirational poetry in 1983 however I didn’t know what writing meant. I wrote a few plays, a newsletter entitled “Am I My Sister’s Keeper” and more poetry.
Once a friend told me that my poetry was not suitable for a book, I became discouraged. However, on a trip to Barbados I heard a very clear voice telling me that I had a voice that others needed to hear. My writing was more than on the surface, it was writing from the heart. On the plane from Barbados, I was given my first book, “Free to Be Strong and Victorious.” It was a book with my personal experiences and how I was able to triumph over them. Although this was my first book, the intention was not to make money but share the story of how I went from being an over sheltered church girl to a free, strong and victorious woman of God.
Writing from the heart means you hear from God and he tells you clearly what to write that will impact your family, friends and the world.
Writing from the heart is the only way I know to write. I don’t copy from others, I don’t read blogs and re-write them the way others make money. I write from experience and whatever I am inspired to write.
So, if you are a writer and really want to write from your heart, it’s time to share your voice with the world.
